We had a good meeting and our thanks go to our guests Cathy Roe of HAI (Hatfield Against Incineration) and Clive Bennett from the North Mymms Green Belt Society. Cathy gave the meeting a comprehensive update on Herts CC's consultation on the amendments to their Waste Sites Allocation Plan, and why it is so important to get as many responses as possible before the consultation ends on 17th Feb.
The latest amendment by Herts CC removes several sites from the original plan, and leaves 8 sites still in - for the whole of Hertfordshire. Three of those sites - a massive proportion - are in Welwyn Hatfield, which would result in a completely unacceptable cumulative effect on Welwyn Hatfield.
IF WE CANNOT GET NEW BARNFIELD REMOVED FROM THE LIST OF DESIGNATED WASTE SITES, EVEN IF THE PUBLIC ENQUIRY GOES IN OUR FAVOUR AGAINST THE INCINERATOR, NEW BARNFIELD COULD STILL BE USED FOR OTHER WASTE PROJECTS.
We need to get as many objections as possible to Herts CC before 17th February.
Hatfield Against Incineration, North Mymms Green Belt Society, Brookmans Park Residents Association and Welham Green Residents Association will all be working together.
It was agreed that all households would receive a leaflet through the door with details of the consultation, and a response form, to be delivered as soon as the leaflets are printed - hopefully within the next week.
The Brookmans Park collection point for the responses will be in Brookmans Park News, and we thank Mayur for making this possible. The deadline for posting in this box will be Thursday 13th February, to allow time to get them to County Hall.
The NMGBS and BPRA will also be manning stands in the Dutch Nursery at the weekend, BP village centre (weather permitting), and other venues TBA, where anyone can come and fill in a response form.
EVERY MEMBER OF A HOUSEHOLD CAN SEND A RESPONSE.
Any offers of help to deliver leaflets, or man a stand for a couple of hours, will be warmly welcomed. Please IM me through the forum, or ring the message line on 01707 661669.
